A patient centered medicine in which the patient becomes an active participant in his or her own health care by learning to elicit mental and physical relaxation, embrace optimism and awareness, learn to actively cope via emotional disclosure, and to seek supportive, healthy personal relationships.  All of these interventions may counteract the negative effects of chronic distress.

Clinical Nutrition
Naturopathic Doctors examine the relationship between diet and health.  Special diets may be recommended as well as nutritional supplements (e.g. vitamins, minerals, enzymes, etc.)

Botanical (Herbal) Medicine

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine
Based on balancing the flow of Chi (energy) through Meridian pathways, Asian medicine includes the use of acupuncture, acupressure and Asian herbs.

Physical Medicine
refers to the use of hands-on techniques such as massage, soft tissue and spinal manipulation, as well as various types of electrical stimulation and therapeutic ultrasound for the purpose of treating musculoskeletal and neurological problems.  Hydrotherapy is the use of hot and cold water applications to improve circulation and stimulate the immune system.
